বৃদ্ধ হচ্ছে কলকাতার হিন্দুসমাজ নেমে আসছে 1946 এর কালো ছায়া। কলকাতা শহরে শেষ 40 বছর ধরে হিন্দু কমছে, মুসলমান বাড়ছে শিশুদের মধ্যে শতাংশের অনুপাতে। বর্তমান কলকাতা শহরে (কলকাতা পুরসভা অঞ্চল ) জনসংখ্যা 44,96,964 জন যার মধ্যে 34,40,290 জন হিন্দু ও 926,414 জন মুসলমান যা জনসংখ্যার 76.5 ও 20.6%। কিন্তু 0-9 বয়সী 511,380 জনের মধ্যে 346,959 জন হিন্দু ও 150,056জন মুসলমান যা 0-9বয়সী দের 67.85ও 29.34%। এই পরিবর্তন কি ভাবে হল তা বিভিন্ন বয়স গ্রুপ অনুসারে আলোচনা করছি।
কলকাতা শহরে 1952-2011 সাল অবধি জন্ম নেওয়া বিভিন্ন বয়স গোষ্ঠীর ধর্মভিত্তিক জনবিন্যাস দিচ্ছি প্রতি 10 বছর করে যেমন 0-9, 10-19এইভাবে । প্রথমেই আসি 0-9 বয়সী দের কথাতে 0-9 বয়সী 511,380 জনের মধ্যে 346,959 জন হিন্দু ও 150,056জন মুসলমান যা 0-9বয়সী দের 67.85ও 29.34%। এরপর 10-19 বয়সীরা 10-19 বয়সী 707,364 জনের মধ্যে 487,613জন হিন্দু ও 199,987জন মুসলমান যা 10-19বয়সী দের 68.93ও 28.27% ।20-29 বয়সী দের 806,645 জনের মধ্যে 583,555 জন হিন্দু ও 200,017জন মুসলমান যা 20-29বয়সী দের 72.34ও 24.81%।

50-59 দের তুলনায় 40-49 দের মধ্যে অর্থাৎ 1952-61 তে জন্মানো দের থেকে 1962-72 এ জন্মানো দের সংখ্যা বেড়েছে 37.46%, হিন্দুদের 32.84 ও মুসলমান দের 69.53%। অর্থাৎ 1960 এর দশক থেকেই মুসলমান হিন্দুদের দ্বিগুণ এর বেশি হারে বাড়ে । 40-49 থেকে 30-39 দের মধ্যে সংখ্যা বেড়েছে 14.73% হিন্দুদের 9.94% ও মুসলমান এর 39.84% , মুসলমান চারগুন হারে বেড়েছে হিন্দুদের । 30-39 দের থেকে 20-29 দের মধ্যেসংখ্যা বেড়েছে 5.33%, হিন্দুদের 2.42% ও মুসলমান এর 35.56% । 1972-81তে জন্মানো দের তুলনাতে 1982-91 তে জন্মানো দের মধ্যে মুসলমান বেড়েছে হিন্দুদের 17 গুন বেশি হারে অবিশ্বাস্য নয় এটা বাস্তব ।
ফলাফল 1972-81 তে জন্মানোদের থেকে 81-90 তে জন্মানো দের মধ্যে মুসলমান এর অনুপাত 5.53% বাড়ে, হিন্দুদের 5.73% কমে যা সর্বোচ্চ দশক অনুসারে পরিবর্তন এর মধ্যে পাচ দশকের মধ্যে । 20-29 থেকে 10-19 এর মধ্যে জনসংখ্যা কমে 12.31% কিন্তু হিন্দু দের কমে 16.44% ও মুসলমান এর 0.01% । মুসলমান দের জনসংখ্যা প্রায় এক থাকলেও হিন্দুদের অনেকটাই কমে মুসলমান দের মাত্র 30ও হিন্দুদের 95,942 জন হ্রাস পায় যা ভয়ানক । শেষ পরিবর্তন হয় 10-19 থেকে 0-9 এর মধ্যে এতে হিন্দু 28.85 ও মুসলমান 24.97% হ্রাস পায় ।
যেই মুসলমান 1952-61 তে জন্মানো দের মধ্যে 12.82% ছিল তারা 2002-11র জাতক দের 29.34% । হিন্দুদের জন্ম নিয়ন্ত্রন কার্যত 1970 এর দশক থেকে শুরু হলেও ও 80 র দশক থেকে ব্যাপক আকার নিলেও মুসলমান দের শুরুই হয় 90 দশক থেকে ও 2000এর পর বাড়ে । মুসলমান কার্যত 30 বছর পর থেকে ব্যাপক জন্ম নিয়ন্ত্রণ করছে হিন্দুদের ও মোটামুটি তারা তাদের নিম্নতম স্তরে পৌছেছে 2010-11সাল নাগাদ । হিন্দু দের আরও পতন হবে অবাঙালি ও সাব অলটার্ন মেয়েদের বিয়ের বয়স বাড়ছে, বাচ্চা নেওয়া কমছে কন্যাশ্রি ও নানা স্কিমের সৌজন্যে ।
50-59 থেকে 40-49 হিন্দুর অনুপাত কমেছে 2.83% মুসলমান এর বেড়েছে 3% । 40-49 থেকে 30-39 এ এটা 3.4% ও 3.46% । 30-39 থেকে 20-29 এ এটা 5.73ও 5.53% ।20-29 থেকে 10-19 এ এটা 3.41% ও 3.47% । 10-19 থেকে 0-9এ এটা 1.08ও 1.07% । মোট হিন্দু কমেছে 16.45% 1952-61 থেকে 2002-11র মধ্যে আনুপাতিক দিক থেকে অন্যদিকে মুসলমান বেড়েছে 16.52% । কার্যত দশকের পর দশক জুড়ে আনুপাতিক হারে মুসলমান বেড়েছে ও হিন্দু কমেচে প্রায় এক হারে এমনকি শেষ দশকেও এটা হয়েছে ।
কলকাতায় 0-24 বয়সীর সংখ্যা 16,19,039 জন যার মধ্যে 11,17,053জন বা 69%হিন্দু ও 456, 259 জন বা 28.18% মুসলমান । জনসংখ্যার 36% 0-24 বয়সী হিন্দুদের 32.47% ও মুসলমান দের 49.25% । মুসলমান অনেক বেশি তরুন হিন্দুর থেকে প্রায় অর্ধেকই জওয়ান । অন্যদিকে 40+এর সংখ্যা 17,05,765জন যার মধ্যে 14,24, 285 জন বা 83.5% হিন্দু ও 228,808 জন বা 13.41% মুসলমান। শহরের 37.93% জনসংখ্যা 40+,হিন্দুদের 41.4% ও মুসলমান দের 24.7% ।

আগামি 30 বছর পর কলকাতার জনসংখ্যা 2050 এর দিকে আনুমানিক 35% এর কাছাকাছি মুসলমান থাকবে 0-9 দের45% এর উপর মুসলমান থাকবে । মুসলমান যা জন্মহার কমিয়েছে 2002-11তে তার বেশি কমেনা । এরা নূন্যতম 2 এর উপর টি এফ আর রাখবেই ও বিয়ের গড় বয়স ও কম । অন্যদিকে হিন্দুদের বিয়ের গড় বয়স 30 মধ্যবিত্ত দের ক্ষেত্রে ও 24-25 নিম্ন মধ্যবিত্তদের । জন্মহার ও 0.8থেকে খুব বেশি হলে 1.1-1.2। নতুন হিন্দু মাইগ্রেশন না হলে শহরতলি তে এতদিনে কলকাতা হিন্দু সংখ্যালঘু হয়ে যেত।

2011সালে মোটামুটি 1930 এর দশকে জন্মানো দের মৃত্যু হয় ও 40 এর দশকে জন্মানোরা মরতে শুরু করে গড় আয়ু 70 বছর ধরে । 2040 এর পর 1960 এর দশোকের জাতকরা মরবে 70 এর দশকরা বুড়া হবে ও 80 র দশকরা প্রৌড় । নব্য হিন্দু প্রজন্ম বাইরে যাবে এখনকার মতই । কার্যত খাতায় কলমে শহরটি হিন্দু সংখ্যাগরিষ্ঠ থাকলেও অধিকাংশ হিন্দুই বৃদ্ধ হবে । 1941 এর সেন্সাসে বৃহত্তর কলকাতা তে (সে সময়ের শহরতলি ও মূল শহর ধরে ) 24.41% মুসলমান ছিল যার পরেই 46 এর গ্রেট ক্যালকাটা কিলিংস হয় ।

The black shadow of 1946 is coming down to the Hindu society of Calcutta. In the city of Kolkata, Hindus have been declining for the last 40 years, while Muslims have been increasing in proportion to the percentage of children. The present city of Kolkata (Kolkata Municipality area) has a population of 44,96,964 of which 34,40,290 are Hindus and 926,414 are Muslims which is 76.5 and 20.6% of the population. In the city of Calcutta, from 1952-2011, we are giving religion based population of different age groups every 10 years like 0-9, 10-19. Out of 765,810 people aged 30-39, 597,878 are Hindus and 147,546 are Muslims which is 78.07 and 19.27% of 30-39 year olds. Of the 485,615 people aged 59, 409,362 are Hindus and 62,234 are Muslims, which is 84.3% and 12.82% of those aged 50-59.
The number of people born in 1962-72 has increased by 37.46%, of Hindus 32.84% and of Muslims 69.53% as compared to those born in 1952-61. In other words, the number of Muslim Hindus has more than doubled since the 1960s. Between 40-49 and 30-39, the number has increased to 14.73% for Hindus, 9.94% for Muslims and 39.84% for Muslims. Between 30-39 and 20-29, the population increased by 5.33%, Hindus 2.42% and Muslims 35.56%. It is not unbelievable that the number of Muslims has increased 17 times more than the number of those born in 1982-91 as compared to those born in 1972-81.
Results The proportion of Muslims between those born in 1972-81 and those born between 1981 and 1981 increased by 5.53%, while that of Hindus decreased by 5.73% within five decades. Between 20-29 and 10-19 the population decreased by 12.31% but Hindus decreased by 16.44% and Muslims by 0.01%. Although the population of Muslims is almost the same, the number of Hindus is much less than the number of Muslims is only 30 and the number of Hindus is 95,942 which is terrible. The last change was between 10-19 and 0-9 in which Hindus decreased by 28.85% and Muslims by 24.97%.

Muslims who were 12.82% of those born in 1952-61 are 29.34% of those born in 2002-11. Although the birth control of Hindus started practically in the 1970's and took a massive shape in the 80's, the Muslim population started increasing from the 90's and beyond 2000. Muslims have been controlling the birth rate of Hindus for virtually 30 years and they have reached their lowest level by 2010-11. There will be further decline of Hindus. The age of marriage of non-Bengali and sub-altern girls is increasing.
From 50-59 to 40-49 the proportion of Hindus decreased from 2.83% to that of Muslims increased by 3%. At 40-49 to 30-39 it is 3.4% and 3.46%. From 30-39 to 20-29 it is 5.73 and 5.53%. From 20-29 to 10-19 it is 3.41% and 3.47%. From 10-19 to 0-9 it is 1.08 and 1.07%. The total Hindu population decreased by 16.45% between 1952-61 and 2002-11, while the proportion of Muslims increased by 16.52%. In fact, Muslims have grown at a disproportionate rate over the decades, and at almost the same rate as the Hindu community, even in the last decade.
In Kolkata, there are 16,19,039 people aged 0-24, of whom 11,17,053 or 69% are Hindus and 456,259 or 28.18% are Muslims. 36% of the population are Hindus aged 0-24, 32.47% and Muslims 49.25%. Muslims are much younger than most young Hindus. On the other hand, the number of 40+ is 17,05,765 out of which 14,24,285 or 83.5% are Hindus and 228,808 or 13.41% are Muslims. 37.93% of the city's population is 40+, Hindus 41.4% and Muslims 24.7%.
The average age of the city is 33.88 years, 35.55 for Hindus and 27.67 for Muslims. Jawan from Muslim Hindu for eight years. Among the Hindus, there are more old, middle aged and middle aged people. Birth rate and if it is more than 0.8, it is 1.1-1.2. Had it not been for the new Hindu migration, Kolkata would have become a Hindu minority in the suburbs.
Born in the 1930s, approximately 1930s died in 2011, and those born in the 40s began to die, with an average life expectancy of 70 years. After 2040, people born in 1960s will die, 70s will be old and 80s will be old. The new Hindu generation will go out just like now. Although the city has a Hindu majority in practice, most of the Hindus will grow old. In the 1941 census, Greater Calcutta (including suburbs and main cities at the time) had 24.41% Muslims, followed by the Great Calcutta Killings of 46.
