Novelist Salman Rushdie, who was stabbed at an event in New York, has been taken off a ventilator and is able to speak again, his agent and the president of the Shatquay Institute said.
The 75-year-old Rushdie was attacked at the Shatquay Institute on Friday morning. He was immediately airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.
His agent, Andrew Wiley, confirmed to US media that Rushdie would be able to come off the ventilator and speak, the BBC reported.
