A place of worship of minority Hindus was vandalized under the leadership of the OC of Rajshahi's Tanor police station

Jihadi attacks

Jihadi attacks on minority Hindu places of worship in Bangladesh are not a new phenomenon. In all those cases the attackers are not punished. As a result they became more reckless and encouraged to attack Hindus. This time, under the leadership of the OC of Khod police station, there was an incident of vandalism of Hindu shrines in Bangladesh.

It is reported that Kamargaon Central Temple Committee under Tanor Police Station of Tanor Upazila of Rajshahi District, Bangladesh organized special puja and cultural program on the occasion of Baruni festival. The Leela Kirtan program was scheduled to last for 16 hours from Tuesday morning. A large pandal was organized in the temple premises for the pilgrims on the occasion. Meanwhile, on Tuesday morning, local Hindus erupted in anger as soon as news of the incident spread. They surrounded the police and staged a massive protest. A lot of tension spread in the area based on the incident. However, it is not clear why Tanor police station OC Pujo attacked the pandal. The activists said that they organized the festival with proper permission from the administration. But now the festival is about to be canceled due to police harassment. Meanwhile, after this incident, the evidence of infiltration of fundamentalism into the police and administration of Bangladesh came to light once again.

Incidentally, Baruni Snan is held every year on the Madhukrishna Troyodashi of Shatabhisha Nakshatra in Bengal's Chaitra month. This bathing material is a holy bathing festival for Hindus like Makar Sankranti bathing. Varuni Puja is very popular among Hindus in Odisha, India and Bangladesh. Apart from the religious significance, Varuni Puja is considered as a means of social and cultural gathering within the Hindu community. Pilgrims gather to celebrate Puja, share food and drink and participate in various cultural events. It is believed to bring blessings, good luck and prosperity to those who participate in this puja.
